Farming Gold the Honest Way
Gathering, old raids and world content: what still pays when you'd rather play than watch prices.
Gathering professions
Herbalism, Mining and Skinning remain the simplest way to turn time into gold. Fresh expansion materials sell best in the first weeks of a new season, when every crafter is leveling. Later, older materials are often worth more per hour than current ones, because fewer people farm them.
Legacy raids
Soloing old raids gives gold from trash, plus transmog, recipes and the occasional mount you can't sell but will enjoy. Raids from a few expansions back are the sweet spot: quick to clear on a max-level character, with drops that people still want for their wardrobe.
Selling the leftovers
Most farming gold comes from what you do with the loot. Keep a short list of what's worth listing on the auction house (uncommon transmog, crafting materials, pets) and vendor everything else without a second look. A full bag of grey items is a time sink, not a fortune.
A note on gold sellers
Buying gold from third-party sellers breaks the game's terms of service and puts your account at risk. The WoW Token exists so you can turn real money into gold through Blizzard. If you want gold without farming, that's the safe way to do it; see our WoW Token guide.
