Flipping: Buy Low, Sell Normal
The oldest trick in Undermine: buying items listed below their usual price and relisting them where they belong.
What flipping is (and isn't)
Flipping means buying something that's listed well below its normal price and relisting it at that normal price. You aren't trying to push the price above what the item is worth. You're cleaning up mistakes: players in a hurry, people who don't check the market, or someone dumping a full bag before logging off.
Where the margins hide
- Old transmog and BoE gear — leveling-era greens and blues with a popular look regularly sell for many times their vendor price.
- Pets — caged battle pets sell for very different prices on different realm groups, and plenty of people list them at the vendor-style price they saw once years ago.
- Recipes and patterns — rare drops from older content are often listed by players who don't know what they have.
- Reagents after a patch — when a new recipe needs an old material, the price lags behind demand for a few days.
Rules that keep you solvent
Only flip items you've watched for at least a week. Never spend more than a small part of your gold on a single item type. And check how many actually sell before buying ten of them: buying out a market is easy, selling it back is not.
Flipping commodities is much harder than it used to be. The region-wide market fixes most mispricing within minutes, so look for real gaps on unique items instead.
